It is a dream that predicts a future event. Perhaps you received dates, or other symbolic information in the pre-cognitive dream.
For example: Three weeks before my father died I had a dream. Three doctors wearing white jackets carrying long cigarette poles came to the place where my father worked and said they were Death. They had come to take my father. My father was a relatively healthy man. There was no need to believe he was going to die. He went to work everyday, came home, ate and slept well. In the dream I spread my arms like an eagle protecting my father against the inevitable. I shouted, Stop, you cannot take my father away! The scene switched and showed a long empty barren road behind the place where my father worked. His recycling place usually filled with cars and all kinds of things was empty, barren, and dead. In the morning, I went into the kitchen and told my son about the dream.
Grandfather's going to die in three weeks, I said.
Three weeks later my father left this earth.
