People are more stressed than ever before. Over 35 million people in the United States suffer from depression. Many people suffer from migraines, hypertension, ulcers and other stress related disorders. When we are stressed, blood pressure rises and the production of gastric acid increases. Muscles tense. Breathing becomes rapid and shallow. The fight-or-flight response begins with a release of cortisol and adrenaline into the bloodstream. Elevated levels of cotisol can lead to exhaustion, anxiety, and depression and add to physical problems. Cortisol can damage healthy tissues and adrenal fatigue can set in.
